About Us
We have been history enthusiasts for many years and began by buying a 1772 Thomas Kitchin map of Ireland that we absolutely fell in love with.
Our parents and grandparents were born In County Leitrim and County Cork and that map allowed us to look back in history at our ancestors homes of 200 years ago. We then began to purchase old atlases, the first one being of Essex County, Massachusetts, the county where our summer home is located. As schoolteachers, we spent summers in the town of Rockport with our family. Living in a historic New England town, we decided to open up a business in our home. That business, “Vintage Times” became a map gallery that was very popular with residents and visitors alike. We continued to acquire atlases of New England and focused on those of Beers, a family that published atlases in the 1860’s through the end of the century. People were thrilled to be able to see the names and homes of their ancestors written on the maps!
As time went on, we began to present our maps at art shows throughout New England. Our business grew and so did our map collection as we began to acquire countries as well. We have thoroughly enjoyed sharing our maps with our customers as they are given a window into their unique histories!
